Our Practice

 

Salisbury Doctors is a bulk billing medical centre located in Brisbane south suburb Salisbury. Our clinic is committed to excellent primary care for the community. Our mission is to provide the comprehensive health care to the patients. Some of our services include general health check, chronic disease management, work cover health check, skin/mole check and minor procedures. We provide Bulk Billing GP services in Brisbane south area (Salisbury, Coopers plains, Moorooka, Acacia Ridge, Algester, Robertson, sunnybank and nearby suburbs). Currently we are taking new patients and walk-in patients.

After Hours & Emergencies

New Patients

For non-urgent medical treatment outside of our operating hours, existing patients can call 13SICK (13 7425) . 

In the event of a major emergency day or night such as chest pain, breathing difficulties or a serious accident, patients should call 000 immediately.

MyMedicare

For ease of check-in, new patients to Salisbury Doctors should download and complete the new patient form from our website. New patient can also register and check-in through the HotDoc App before coming into the centre.

Sign up as a NEW patient via the app, making sure you have your up-to-date Medicare card and Concession card (if applicable) details to complete the new patient registration.

If Salisbury Doctors is your regular general practice, we encourage you to register for MyMedicare. You can register via your Medicare Online Account or Express Plus Medicare Mobile app

Walk-In Procedure

  1. Arrival: Upon arrival, please check in at the reception.

  2. Medical History Form: New patients are required to complete a Medical History Form. This helps our practitioners provide the best care.

  3. Waiting Time: Waiting times can vary based on the number of patients. Our staff will provide an estimated wait time upon arrival.

  4. Consultation: A General Practitioner (GP) will see you as soon as possible. Emergency cases may receive priority.

Immunisations & Travel Vaccines

Telehealth Services

Patients will need to have attended the medical centre in-person within the last 12 months to be eligible. 

Patients can join the queue for a telehealth consult via the HotDoc App or call us on 3274 2888 to make an appointment.

Home Visits

Depending on circumstances and considering the safety of all, nursing home and home visits may be provided to patients. Visits must take place during clinic hours and are at the discretion of the individual GP. If a home visit isn't appropriate, a telephone consultation may be offered as an alternative.

Salisbury Doctors offers childhood immunisations and travel vaccines. All other private vaccines are available via a script from the GP and purchase at the chemist. Patients can then return to the centre to have the vaccine administered in the treatment room.

Appointments

Translator Services

For patients with language difficulties a telephone translator service can be arrange on 131 450. For patients with hearing difficulties an Auslan interpretors can be arranged on 1300 287 526. Please advise the receptionist if you think this might be needed.

Our medical centre operates on an appointment basis. Our appointment system caters for urgent, non urgent, complex, planned chronic care and preventative healthcare.

If you need more time with your GP, please arrange an extended consultation when booking your appointment. Please advise reception staff if you have more than one issue to discuss so the appropriate consultation time can be booked.

Urgent appointments will be seen by the next available GP. Please advise reception if you believe you require an urgent appointment. Urgent appointments will be triaged by our nurse.

Wait Times

At times you may experience a waiting period due to GPs tending to urgent or complex medical issues. We apologise for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.

Pathology

Mater Pathology at Salisbury Doctors is open from 7.30am to 15:30pm Monday to Friday.

No appointment is required. Simply walk-in with your referral to see the pathology collector during opening hours. Most pathology services are bulk billed with a GP referral. 

Patients will receive an SMS or email from the Salisbury Doctors when the results are back. On receipt of this SMS, please come back in to the medical centre to discuss the results with the referring doctor. 

Free Flu Vaccine

Free flu vaccines now available at Salisbury Doctors for all Queenslanders. 

For patients who don’t have a Medicare card, the vaccine is still free, however, patients will need to pay the standard fee for the GP consultation.

Physiologist

Our allied Dynamic Sport Physiotherapy is located next door of Salisbury Doctors.

They are highly skilled at developing exercise plans based on an individuals’ needs, abilities and lifestyle, as well as providing tailored lifestyle modification advice to assist in improving overall physical and mental health outcomes.

The consults for patients with an active EPC plan are Medicare bulk billed. Otherwise, a private fee will apply (health fund rebate may be applicable).

Dietitian

The dietitian at Salisbury Doctors is available on Thursday every fortnight.

Bulk billing appointments are available.

Shingles Vaccine

A new and more effective shingles vaccine is available for those most at risk of having complications from shingles.

This vaccine will be free for:

  • People aged 65 years and older

  • First Nations people aged 50 years and older

  • Immunocompromised people aged 18 years and older with medical conditions

  • Vaccine supplies are limited, please check with reception for availability. 

Feedback & Complaints Policy

We take our duty of care to look after others very seriously.

At the same time, we have a duty of care to provide a safe working environment for our staff and the doctors.

If you have got a problem with us, please let us know.

Sometimes there is a right way and a wrong way of saying things. But, any form of communication works as a rule.

We aim to look after everyone. However, there are times when our best-laid plans are not sufficient to deal with an individual's request, particularly when the request is complex and our patients are looking for answers that take time or warrant further investigation from our point of view.

There are plenty of ways to let us know there is a problem;

  • You can put a suggestion in our suggestion box, which is located on the front counter

  • You can contact the medical practice

Making an official complaint means that your complaint will be handled in accordance with our official complaints policies of the time, which include;

  • Discussing the matter with stakeholders

  • Assessing your complaint and deciding whether further action is warranted

  • Evaluating your complaint and examining whether our procedures or policies for the future should be improved

  • Responding to you

  • Keeping a record of your complaint, the manner it was handled, and the outcome or outcomes that went with it.

You can make an official complaint by;

  • Putting your concerns to us in writing and;

  • Letting us know that you are making an official complaint

Official complaints can be;

  • Sent to us in writing. Please address your complaint to the practice manager

  • Sent to us via email. Please address your complaint to the practice manager and indicate that it is an official complaint

  • Sent to us via the contact form on our website. Please address your complaint to the practice manager and indicate that it is an official complaint

Official complaints can also be dealt with by the Office of the Health Ombudsman;

  • In-person (over the telephone with a complaints officer from the Office of the Health Ombudsman), or;

  • Via email or over the internet with the Office of the Health Ombudsman
